I've been reading some of the boards and people are starting to really overanalyze some aspects of canned material. Some say your shouldn't use it, some are keeping a list of what's being used on TV, some are saying make 300 of your own routines. It seems to be getting more contrevesial right now.

The first thing to keep in mind is that this is supposed to be fun. It's not supposed to be tedious like math class. So use the routines YOU find amusing. Use them when you feel like it would be fun for you. People have less tendency to blame you or fuck with you if you're having a good time. "Routines are fun" is the biggest most important reason to use them. This also prevents you from becoming outcome dependant.

There's a lot of fresh routines out there right now. I have like hundreds of them that are easily available. Some of the lairs have great lists of them. You don't have to rely on the old stuff if you don't want to.

If you're posting "drop all canned material!" and stuff like that, you're being too reactionary and over dramatic about things. One of the things the community teaches is to not be so reactionary and not be threatened so easily. Yet guys get reactionary before anything bad even happens to them whenever one of these mainstream PU projects comes out.

In late 2005 when The Game was getting popular, there was a similar phenomenon going on. Even big name PUAs were saying forget the canned stuff because of The Game. I did a little experiment where I asked some guys on the boards and some students from seminars what they really thought would never work anymore. Then I went out and used only those routines over and over. No problems. Maybe it's cause my game is really good. Or maybe it's cause I just wasn't scared.

I do this other thing sometimes where I let a student choose the girl and choose the opener for me to do a demo set in workshops. There was this one time a student sent me in with the same opener as the last guy used. Same girl. Less than 5 minutes apart. She said "This other guy just told me this." I said "yeah that's my friend we were just talking about it" and changed to an unrelated opener. Like out of nowhere, totally cut the frame and said "Do you know who Oprah Winfrey is?" Set went fine, took a phone number.

I was having fun doing it, that's why it didnt matter.

There's a big ole book coming out soon called "The Routine Encyclopedia." I think that will help a lot of guys out cause it puts everything in one place. I have a bunch of my stuff in there. There's stuff from mystery, TD, and a lot of other guys too. It's gonna be really cool. I also have 40 something LRs floating around that have a lot of good canned stuff in them.

In the meantime, I'll post some of my scripts in the techniques section to hold ya over. Look for that in the next few days.
